My Fellow Republicans,
I am writing to inform you of a fraudulent attempt to solicit gift cards using my name and position as County Chair. Both the Carbon County Clerk’s office and one of our precinct members have notified me of such an attempt. Please be extra cautious with electronic communication and vigilant for any signs of fraud.
In this case, the fraudster used an email address that is not mine, claiming I was too busy to handle a task and requesting the recipient to purchase gift cards on my behalf. I want to clarify that I will never ask anyone to purchase gift cards for any purpose, let alone reimburse you afterward.
If you receive any suspicious communication, please do not respond. Instead, contact me directly at my phone number, 307-922-6213, to confirm the validity of any request. For party-related business, the only email address I use is CarbonCountyRepublicanParty@gmail.com, and my personal email is metevierp@gmail.com. Any other email address is fraudulent.
This phishing attempt has been reported to the FBI through the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at https://www.ic3.gov/, and I encourage you to remain cautious moving forward.
